Returning to Thailand Nov 2010 Arriving back in Thailand in Nov 2010 we have had 8 months back in the UK to think about the design of our new house. Having had some grandiose ideas for the size of our house, we have now realised that we don't live in the Hollywood hills and Brad Pitt is not our neighbour - we are a Mum and Dad from Bognor Regis with 2 children, on a budget - so we have now scaled down the designs to 'sensible - and in budget' with the one exception of now needing an extra bedroom! |

: We have now moved swiftly on in finding a builder to first clear the site, then fill the land up and build a perimeter wall- due to annual flooding you can either fill the land up above the flood level or build your house on stilts. We have chosen both. We got quotes from 3 builders however, two noticed that my skin is white - and for this reason decided to financially penalise me with quotes 3 times the size of what we would expect. Builder number 3 did not appear to notice the colour of my skin - and provided a sensible quote. This builder turned up on time at our initial meeting and provided a written contract with stage payments only after the work has been completed - and has so far done all that could be expected and more.
