Jan 2011 Happy New Year - Plans approved - we have a proper building site!

We are now moving on with the wall which has now been built and just waiting to be rendered. Had our first slight mishap with the planning dept. We have had our plans for the guest house and office approved (they never don't approve plans and these where plans already in their list of pre approved designs) but we changed the piles on the plan from wood to cement, not really knowing are way around a set of plans, we realised on visiting the site that we now have 8 sets of 3 concrete piles going down 3m - not bad foundations for a single house only 8.5 x 3.5. My first thought was that 'Ron' would not have been disappointed with our foundations. On Friday they will be pouring the cement which comes pre mixed.

It times to pour the concrete for the new office and start the guest house

In Thailand the main load bearing is on the posts with reinforced metal the brick walls are only for filling in and carry no weight. We are attemtping to have a damp course put in but this is not common here- however being near the river we thought we should.

Looking good its a new lorry (and driver) nearly had to reverse the lorry in myself

First pour of concrete for office building

Filled up with about 1 ft concrete

Form a queue - the driver forgot the extension (and the reversing test).

After poured then filled up
